So it’s been a long while since I’ve done one of these. And since I’ve gotten some good news at work, so I feel like participating.![]()
So here is my kitten, or I should say cat now, Pancake. We rescued her along with her sister Dorian last year. We heard some little kitten meows outside one afternoon in the lot next door. And my husband went and found out the source of the meowing. There were three little kittens, about a week old and motherless, in a drainage pipe. So my husband decided it would be wrong to just let them stay there in the heat without their mother cat taking care of them. Once he got them out of the pipe he tried to rehydrate them. Unfortunately he was too late for one of the kittens. After he went to get some kitten formula the smallest kitten passed away. But luckily the other two lived! Then it came down to are we going to keep them or take them to a shelter. It’s a lot of work feeding wee tiny kittens with no mama. And I told my husband if we name them we have to keep them. Because I couldn’t stand getting attached to them and then having to give them away. Well we each got to name a cat. He named the small one Dorian Gray, because we thought she was a he but turned out to be a she, and she’s all gray. And the other one I named Pancake, because as a tiny kitten she had this splat of white on her face.

What a beautiful cat! And what a (mostly) nice ending to a rescue story. Pancake looks like quite a playful thing
